Muqabla 2026

Hosted by Seton Hall University South Asian Students Association | February 7, 2026

On February 7, 2026, the stage at Seton Hall University came alive with rhythm, energy, and cultural pride as the South Asian Students Association (SASA) hosted Muqabla 2026, their annual Bollywood Dance Fusion Competition. The event brought together some of the most talented collegiate dance teams from across the region, each delivering electrifying performances that beautifully blended traditional South Asian dance with modern choreography.

Muqabla is more than a dance competition it is a celebration of identity, creativity, and community. Each team told a story through movement, seamlessly fusing classical influences with contemporary styles such as hip-hop, lyrical, and cinematic Bollywood, showcasing the evolving expression of South Asian culture among today’s youth.

This year’s competing teams included:

  • Rutgers University Tamasha

  • Hofstra University Sitare

  • Georgetown University Guzaarish

  • Johns Hopkins University Josh

  • University of Rochester Rangoli

  • Columbia University Dhoom

In addition to the competition, audiences were treated to special exhibition performances by:

  • Seton Hall University’s Bollywood Dance Team, Saba

  • Seton Hall University’s Classical Dance Team, Taal

Each performance reflected months of dedication, teamwork, and artistic excellence, leaving the audience inspired and energized.

Witnessing firsthand the dedication, discipline, and passion each team brought to the stage was truly inspiring. The level of talent, creativity, and professionalism demonstrated by these collegiate performers reflects a generation deeply connected to their roots while boldly shaping the future of cultural expression.
